CSR Partnership Empowering Women Entrepreneurs

In early 2023, Genie InfoTech Pvt. Ltd., a leading IT company based in Pune, partnered with the Giving for Good Foundation as a corporate sponsor to support employable skill training courses for women from low-income communities. This empowering Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partnership aims to provide nearly 100 women from the slums of Mumbai access to employable skills. The goal is to equip them with skills that will help them earn a sustainable income, qualify for various job opportunities, and establish their own small businesses, thus breaking the cycle of poverty within their families.

This initiative brings unique and transformative training courses to women, such as tailoring, henna art, paper embroidery, hair care & beauty, fashion jewelry design, and seasonal/festive décor. The team at Vision Rescue offers these courses to women from the slum community of Kalwa in Mumbai.

Under the expert mentorship of a specialized team of trainers, the beneficiaries undergo an intensive training program that lasts from two weeks to three months, depending on the complexity of each course. The acquisition of these distinct skill sets focuses on employability, building self-confidence, and embarking on a journey toward financial independence.

To encourage participation, these classes are conducted within Vision Rescue's Community Service Centers, strategically located within the target slum communities. This approach ensures that women with other commitments can conveniently access these courses. Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Micro-Enterprise Development (MED) initiatives are established to help women progress toward employment and entrepreneurship, building a strong network of women-led empowerment.

Genie InfoTech’s CSR donation plays a pivotal role in helping families emerge from poverty and marginalization. This support unlocks a unique set of opportunities, encouraging women and their families to pursue their financial goals and create a brighter future for themselves. It is a significant step toward economic inclusivity and gender equality in marginalized communities. The firm is entitled to all information related to the progress of the initiative and is proactively assisted by the Giving for Good Foundation.
